ElevenLabs has relaunched ElevenMusic as a full creative platform, adding remixing tools and an artist publishing system to the AI music app it launched on iOS earlier this month. The update, announced April 30, positions the platform as what the company describes as a "fan engagement layer" connecting AI generation, remixing, and streaming in a single app.
What Happened
The original ElevenMusic iOS app launched April 2, 2026 as a text-to-music generator. The April 30 revamp adds two significant layers. First, remix tools let users reinterpret existing songs by changing genre or tempo, including tracks by the approximately 4,000 human artists now on the platform. Second, artist publishing tools allow musicians to release original tracks or remixes, build an audience, and earn based on listener engagement.
The expanded catalog includes AI-assisted releases through The Eleven Album series, featuring collaborations with artists including Liza Minnelli, Art Garfunkel, King Willonius, The Danger Twins, and Justin Love. Since the platform first launched on web in August 2025, users have created over 14 million tracks.
Why It Matters
ElevenMusic is entering a field dominated by Suno and Udio, but with a different legal and structural foundation. ElevenLabs secured upfront licensing deals with Kobalt (one of the largest independent music publishers) and Merlin (the digital licensing organization for independent labels) before opening to the public. This contrasts with Suno and Udio, both of which faced copyright litigation before later reaching settlement agreements with major labels.
The creator monetization angle is also a departure from how AI music generators typically operate. Rather than selling API access or subscriptions alone, ElevenMusic is building a two-sided marketplace where AI-generated content and human artist work coexist in the same catalog, with both eligible for earnings.
ElevenLabs is bringing substantial resources to this push: the company closed a $500 million Series D in February 2026 at an $11 billion valuation and has paid out $11 million in earnings to voice creators across its broader platform to date.

What to Do Next
If you publish original music or remix work, the artist publishing flow on ElevenMusic is the most direct test of whether AI-licensed-catalog platforms can compete with Suno and Udio on creator economics this quarter.
